Accomplishment!

Just have to say it is a REALLY great feeling to begin checking off the titles on my list!!!

  1. Pilgrim at Tinker Creek is a challenge for me. I think I've kept it all these years because it won the Pulitzer Prize and felt it deserved my time. Even Dillard herself was embarrassed by the acclaim it received. I'm beginning to feel like the reviewer that said unless you are a big fan of nature and science, you probably shouldn't read this book! I'll hang in for a while longer; I'm only on chapter 3.

    1. I'm curious about that book. Perini mentions it in his chapter on Walden -- even goes so far as to claim it is as influential as Thoreau's book. Hmmmm. But -- I think we need to feel good about giving these books a chance, and then abandoning them if we choose. After all -- there is probably a reason many of these books have languished on our shelves for years :-)
